Active Release Technique
What is Active Release Technique?
Active Release Technique® (ART) is a patented massage technique that treats soft tissue injuries. Conditions such as headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and shin splints are but a few that can be resolved effectively using ART treatment.
There are many areas within the body where blood vessels, nerves, tendons, fascia, and muscles can become compromised, whether from repetitive muscle strain, an accident or surgery. When such trauma occurs, the body produces scar tissue. With the build up of scar tissue, surrounding tissues are prohibited from moving freely. Muscle length and strength is being compromised, as well as the integrity of surrounding structures, and nerves can become trapped. All of these interactions can result in pain, and feelings of numbness and weakness.
Commonly, soft tissue injuries are being treated with pain medication, cold & hot treatment, massage, etc., which does not necessarily address, or heal, the interactive relationship between scar tissue and surrounding tissues. ART® treatment is geared toward adjusting soft tissue to reinstate a healthy interaction between soft tissue areas within the body.
Combined with other techniques offered at Foster Chiropractic Clinic, such as regular chiropractic care and progressive rehabilitation, ART® treatment has proven itself to be extremely effective. You can go to the Active Release Technique website to find out more about ART, or call (530)877-6325 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Foster today.
